What’s happening in the
Jewellery Quarter:

  • A new apprenticeship initiative to encourage new blood into the Jewellery trade has been set up. Jewellery manufacturers in the Birmingham area are invited to a meeting at the School of Jewellery on Vittoria Street on Wednesday 5th December at 8:30 am to hear more about the scheme.
     
  • 24 Carrots Farmers’ Market in St Paul’s Square - Thursday 13th December, 4pm – 9pm

 Latest news

  • Consultation has started on plans to make the Warstone Lane junction by Tescos safer for pedestrians.
  • The proposed artwork to the derelict building on the corner of Ludgate Hill/Lionel St is expected to be installed in the next month following a partnership between University College Birmingham and the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust(BID).
  • The appointment of an approved contractor for the Golden Square is imminent with construction proposed to commence in October. Details, including updated design plans will be released shortly and negotiations/consultation with the landowners affected can then commence.

Who is involved

The JQDT is managed by a Board of unpaid Directors, made up of representatives from four long-standing Jewellery Quarter organisations, namely the Jewellery Quarter Association (JQA), the Jewellery Quarter Neighbourhood Forum (JQNF), the Jewellery Quarter Marketing Initiative (JQMI) and the Jewellery Quarter Trade Alliance (JQTA) together with other key stakeholders including the Birmingham Assay Office, the School of Jewellery and Birmingham City Council (BCC).

There are currently twelve Directors of the JQDT. These are members of the above organisations and are as follows:

BID Management Committee

A BID Steering Group was established in the lead-up to the ballot. Following the successful outcome of the ballot a BID Management Committee has been appointed to oversee the delivery of the initiatives and services set out in the BID prospectus, a copy of which is also on this site. The members of this Committee, which met for the first time on 29th October 2012, are listed in the BID section of this website.
